Our Story

From Our Family to Yours

Cornland grandparents preparing traditional Brazilian pamonha together

Where It All Began

Cornland began long before it had a name. Some of my happiest childhood memories are of my mom, bringing home fresh corn from the market and gathering in the kitchen with my grandparents, to make pamonha and fresh corn pudding.

Rooted in Tradition

Making pamonha was never just about the food. It was something we did together. My mom, my grandparents, and I would peel the fresh corn, prepare the husks, grind the kernels, fill each husk with the corn mixture, fold it, and tie it by hand with strips of the husk itself.

While the pamonhas cooked, we also prepared fresh corn pudding. I remember standing over the big pot with a wooden spoon, stirring and stirring until it finally reached the perfect consistency. Once chilled, my mother served it in large glass dishes with plenty of cinnamon on top.

Those weren’t just recipes. They were moments of family, patience, sharing, and tradition.

A Taste of Childhood

When everything was ready, the pamonhas filled our freezer and became part of everyday life — breakfast, an afternoon snack, or simply something good to enjoy whenever we wanted.

The fresh corn pudding went into large glass dishes and chilled in the refrigerator with a generous layer of cinnamon on top. I still remember cutting into it and taking out those thick, cold pieces. That taste has stayed with me ever since.

And we always shared what we made. My grandparents took some home, some stayed with us, and the food became part of the time we spent together.

For me, these are more than flavors. They taste like childhood. They taste like family.

Carrying the Tradition Forward

Years later, those memories are still with me. The smell of fresh corn, the pamonhas cooking, the corn pudding cooling in the refrigerator, and our family gathered together in the kitchen are part of what inspired Cornland.

Today, we’re carrying that tradition forward in a new way. Our pamonha is served in convenient jars, making it easier to enjoy and share the flavors I grew up with while preserving the care, warmth, and Brazilian roots behind them.

Cornland is about more than corn. It’s about keeping good memories alive, creating new ones, and bringing people together around food.
